Attorney Spotlight – Barbara Martin

January 5, 2026

Today we present our next edition of Beattie Padovano’s “Spotlight Series,” which is designed to help you get to know the team behind our success.

We’re pleased to highlight Barbara M. Martin, Member, who focuses on Estate Planning, Trusts, Estate Administration, and Elder Law. With extensive experience drafting wills, complex trusts and counseling clients on asset protection, Medicaid planning, and long-term care issues, Barbara works with executors, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries on probate matters, succession issues in closely held entities, the purchase and sale of those entities, and more.

A frequent speaker on Estates, Trusts, and Elder Law issues, Barbara also has substantial experience working with 501(c)(3) organizations and has handled many residential real estate transactions over the years.

Here’s more from our recent visit:

Barbara, what inspired you to pursue a career as an attorney?

I became an estate and elder law attorney because I saw how overwhelming the journey of aging, illness, and estate planning can be for families. Watching family members struggle with the decisions in that process made me realize how important it is to have someone who can guide you with knowledge and compassion.

What do you most enjoy about working with your team at Beattie Padovano, LLC?

What I enjoy most about working at Beattie Padovano is that I can collaborate with attorneys in so many different practice areas. The trust and estates area is multidisciplinary and touches on real estate law, family law, tax, corporate advice and succession, asset protection, and litigation. When I’m working with a client whose issue overlaps with another aspect of law, I can walk down the hall to an open door and discuss it with an attorney who specializes in that area. We can then work as a team to ensure that clients are getting the most complete and thoughtful solutions.

What types of cases are especially meaningful or rewarding for you, and why?

My most meaningful cases are those which allow me to help families after a diagnosis or crisis. To calmly guide those clients in crisis through decisions about law, care, finances, and how to protect the wishes and best interests of loved ones is deeply rewarding to me.

What is your favorite part about working in Northern New Jersey?

My favorite part about working in North Jersey is the access to so many incredible restaurants! Within 10 minutes of my office, I can enjoy excellent Italian, Greek, Korean, Chinese and American food.

Please share a fun fact about yourself: personal or professional!

I have four children and in my free time, I enjoy volunteering for Friends of the Haworth Library and Girl Scouts. I also love going to the beach and sailing. I love the holidays and have two cats named Turkey and Stuffing!

What advice would you give to an aspiring lawyer? I would advise new lawyers to remember that this is a service business; be sure to treat every client like they are their only clients.
