Arthur N. Chagaris, Chair of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation & Appeals group, is involved in all areas of litigation. He has been Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney continuously since 1991.

Throughout the course of his distinguished career, Arthur has conducted dozens of jury trials from jury selection to verdict, including, among others, commercial disputes, intellectual property cases, contractual disputes, wrongful death cases, medical malpractice cases, personal injury matters, construction contract and landlord-tenant disputes. He has also conducted many  non-jury trials in both the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey and in other jurisdictions, involving oppressed shareholder suits, contract litigation, probate matters, Lanham Act violations, trademark infringement, trademark counterfeiting and foreclosure proceedings. In addition, from 2005 to 2015, he served as the Planning Board Attorney for the Borough of Closter, New Jersey.

Arthur has been a Member of the Justice Morris Pashman Chapter of the American Inns of Court since 1994 during which time he has held several leadership roles including Master and has served as a member of the Chapter’s Coordinating Committee. Among his many honors and awards, he has been named a Super Lawyer in Super Lawyer Magazine since 2006. He also holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell.

Throughout his years practicing law, Arthur has also been active in a number of Northern New Jersey business and civic associations. Among other distinctions, he is a past President of the Board of Directors of a non-profit association of cooperative unit owners, and for several years served as a President of the Parish Council of the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Theologian of Tenafly, New Jersey. In 2003, he was installed in the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, the highest lay order of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Arthur began his legal career as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Austin L. Fickling, III of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C.  While in law school at American University, he was awarded a Dean’s Fellowship and served as Editor-in-Chief of The American University Law Review for Volume 23.
