Renata Helstoski is a Member in the firm's Commercial Real Estate & Leasing practice. Her practice covers general transactional law with an emphasis in commercial real estate. She handles the drafting and negotiating of leases, purchase and sale agreements, reciprocal easement agreements and associated documents. She also conducts due diligence reviews, including title and survey.

Renata’s practice is both national and local in scope.  On the national level, she was a member of the legal team who represented a national retailer in connection with sale/leaseback transactions involving extensive property holdings across the country with a transaction value of approximately $250 million. She also represents a multi-national automobile and equipment leasing company in connection with leasing and disposition transactions throughout the United States.

On the local level, Renata has represented several real estate developers in connection with the acquisition, financing and leasing of retail shopping centers, the sale of a project consisting of 28 acres in Bergen County for affordable housing, hotel, assisted living and office, the sale and development of a 210 acre tract of land for residential, hotel, office, assisted living and retail uses in Parsippany, New Jersey, the acquisition and redevelopment of a brownfields tract in Jersey City for use as a golf course, the development of a tract of land into 28 single-family lots and sale at a value in excess of $10 million, the expansion of multi-state supermarket operation and numerous other transactions.

In fields other than commercial real estate, Renata handles corporate transactions such as, but not limited to, mergers and acquisitions and state and local public contracts.  Since 2002, she has participated in various aspects of the representation of the Bergen County Improvement Authority.  She also assisted in the Firm’s position as Special Real Estate Counsel to the Redevelopment Authority of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey with respect to the interpretation and enforcement of long-term ground leases.

Renata joined Beattie Padovano as an associate in 1999 and was elevated to Member in 2011. Prior to becoming associated with the Firm, she served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Sybil R. Moses, Assignment Judge, Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County.

Renata’s community involvement includes serving as a pro bono attorney and ex-officio member of the Board of Directors for the Bergen County Volunteer Center.

Renata’s professional affiliations include membership in the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Bergen and New Jersey State Bar Associations.

Renata received her J.D. from Rutgers University Law School in 1998, and her B.A. in Economics with High Honors from Rutgers College in 1993 when she also became a member of the of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
